Earlier this month, we talked a bit about the toll that chronic stress can take on our health and I shared with you 5 herbs for stress that are easy to find and grow in your own garden.

When combined with positive lifestyle changes, each of these herbs can help you manage stress in a different way–some by relaxing the mind and nerves, some by nourishing the nervous system, some by helping the body adapt to stress and some by relaxing tension in the body.

Today’s recipe is a relaxing tea blend that includes each of these 5 herbs.

While this tea can be enjoyed any time, I love to prepare a cup after a particularly stressful day or in the late afternoon or evening when I’m ready to unwind.   For more about the herbs in this recipe, be to check out this post.

I like to prepare my tea in quart batches but you can make as a little or a much as you need.  To fill a quart jar I used 1/2 cup per part (see recipe below.)

  • Reply Kimi Jones at I love loose-leaf tea but I've never made my own blend! Will have to try it out soon :) Thx so much, I love your blog
    • Reply Jen at It's a lot of fun to make your own, Kimi!
  • Reply Leesa Hagan at Where to you buy all of your different dried herbs that you use? I grow some myself, but not a huge variety.
    • Reply Jen at I'm able to get a lot of common herbs (such as all the herbs in the stressful day tea) at my local co-op/health food store.( If you're unfamiliar with co-ops, I wrote this post all about what they are and what I buy there.) Frontier and Starwest Botanicals are good companies that you can purchase herbs from on Amazon. For hard to find herbs, I love Mountain Rose herbs. The shipping can be slow and expensive if you don't live in the northwest so I usually only place an order once or twice a year (and combine with my herb loving friends!)
